Revised yellow fever vaccination recommendations

Cape Verde

Earlier this year scientists from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revised their YF vaccine recommendations for travellers to Cape Verde [1]. NaTHNaC have adopted this change with immediate effect.

There is no risk of YF in Cape Verde and vaccination is not recommended.

Further health information for Cape Verde can be found on the NaTHNaC Country Information Page.

Trinidad and Tobago

NaTHNaC have reviewed surveillance data for Trinidad and Tobago and have implemented the following change to YF vaccination recommendation with immediate effect.

There is a risk of YF in rural, inland areas of Trinidad. Urban, coastal areas are considered to be less of a risk. YF vaccination is recommended for travellers to rural, inland areas.

There is no risk of YF in Tobago, and vaccination is not recommended for travel only to Tobago.

Further health information for Trinidad and Tobago can be found on the NaTHNaC Country Information Page.

Health professionals who advise travellers should review itineraries to ensure that YF vaccination is recommended for other areas or countries which are a risk for YF. The requirements for YF vaccination under International Health Regulations should also be considered.

Specific advice on YF risk and the requirements for vaccination can be found in the NaTHNaC Country Information Page.
