Publication of ‘Health Information for International Travel 2008’

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have published the latest version of their travel health publication ‘Health Information for International Travel 2008’, also known as ‘The Yellow Book’. The publication is available both as a hard copy and web-based version.  It is available online at: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/contentYellowBook.aspx.

Mainly targeted at health professionals, this resource provides information on preventing, recognising and managing travel health related risks. Chapters of particular interest include those on immunisation, yellow fever risk areas and disease specific information. The latest edition also includes the most up-to-date recommendations on the risks relating to malaria and avian influenza.

Health professionals should be aware that where US CDC recommendations differ from national guidelines for the country in which they are practicing, the national guidelines should generally be observed.
