HPA publishes annual travel surveillance report
The Travel and Migrant Health Section (TMHS) at the Centre for Infections, Health Protection Agency, Colindale has published its annual travel report. The TMHS is in partnership with NaTHNaC.
The report describes trends in infectious diseases contracted abroad and provides an update to the baseline report published last year. It emphasises the need for clinicians to indicate whether or not foreign travel has occurred when they are reporting infections. An improved understanding of the patterns of disease associated with foreign travel will help to inform the advice given to the British traveller.
The report can be accessed in full from the HPA website at: http://www.hpa.org.uk/hpa/publications/travel_2005/default.htm
