Updated RCN Competencies. Travel health nursing: career and competence development

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has published an updated competency document – Travel Health nursing: career and competence development.

The updated document builds on the original Competencies: an integrated career and competency framework for nurses working in travel health medicine, and contains information on the current guidelines and standards for the care of travellers.

It aims to define the standard that would be expected for nurses at different stages of their career, but also recognises that travel medicine is a multi-disciplinary field. As such, much of the information is applicable to other registered health care professionals such as doctors and pharmacists.

The document can be accessed via the RCN website.
