February 2005: Job Opportunities at NaTHNaC

Travel Health Clinical Advisor

NaTHNaC are recruiting for a Travel Health Clinical Advisor (Physician). This post will be for two days a week at the NaTHNaC main office in central London. The post holder will provide input and advice to the NaTHNaC organisation, its partner organisations and other stakeholders in Travel Health.

The post holder will also help to develop and participate in seminars for health care professionals who provide travel health advice and administer travel vaccines, join the on-call rota for the NaTHNaC national advice line, and contribute to written opinion on topics in travel medicine.

Senior Travel Health Nurse Advisor

NaTHNaC are seeking a highly motivated Senior Nurse with exceptional leadership skills to join the team based at UCLH in London. The post holder will lead a team of nurses in providing a specialist telephone advice service for health professionals in the UK. Previous experience in teaching is essential as the post will involve the development and implementation of a training programme for health professionals within Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres in England. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

The post holder will need significant experience and knowledge in the field of travel health in order to lead the operational functioning of the nursing activities within NaTHNaC and contribute to the planning and future development of service provision. The post will also involve development of standards, guidelines and policies. Education to Masters level (or working towards this) is essential.

The Senior Travel Health Nurse Advisor will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and professional accountability.
